Director
Leanne Carr
Leanne is one of our directors and has worked in the industry for 25 years. She works in both tax and payroll, liking how varied her work can be on a daily basis.
Leanne came from a background in retail management when she changed her career path to fit around family life and worked hard to build her payroll and tax career. This has led to her role as director of the company, a fine example of progression. Her organisation skills are a must in this fast paced job and she is always a friendly, helpful member of the team.
While she has an important role in the company, Leanne still makes time for swimming, dancing, camping and even a bit of pilates to relax after work. Leanne is looking forward to see what the future holds.
Director
Ian Cooney
Ian has been a partner and tax director of AWS Accountancy for 30 years. Prior to this he worked at medium sized local practices for 10 years.
He enjoys his role at AWS even when some days can be more challenging than others. Ian has been able to adapt from a purely tax role to where he can now provide clear and proactive advise which benefits clients from both a tax and commercial perspective.
In Ian’s spare time he is a keen rugby fan, particularly Blaydon RFC. He also enjoys walking, especially in the Cheviots.
Payroll Manager
Emma Watson MCIPPdip, Assoc CIPD
Emma loves facing new challenges and when working in payroll and HR, no two days are the same.
She joined the team after wanting to be in a profession with many options of career progression.
She has now completed both payroll and HR qualifications and is always open to learn.
Emma’s best qualities are her organisation skills and thinking outside of the box. She enjoys solving client problems – no matter what they may be!
Emma loves to stay active and goes walking, swimming and kayaking, seeing the world as she does it.
Payroll Senior
Erin Alderson
Erin is our payroll senior who began her payroll journey in 2018.
She enjoys working in a busy environment with clients and queries.
Erin previously helped in her dads business carrying out data inputting, later deciding she would like to expand her knowledge and become trained within the industry.
Erin is very organised and great at time keeping; this is reflected in her work as payroll is about multi-tasking and meeting deadlines. In her spare time Erin loves fashion, learning languages and embroidery.
